Save money on Haggle4me

Media_httpwwwsoftware_ftdri
Most of us like to get the best price on the goods we like and buy. Some of like to haggle and tell our friends as to how we haggled and got the deal. I am a bit of haggler myself and try to get some value of the money I spend on anything. For me haggling is not cheap, but smart shopping. Most of the time with haggling is you have to run around to find the best price for the goods, but with Haggle4me.com site it is the other way round. With this new service, you set the best price you are getting and then hagglers will offer the best price that they can find the goods or services for and the best haggler will get a commission based on the dollars they save you and the site itself gets a commission out of hagglers commission (I think I got this right). Great concept I think. Where was this site all this time!! I never heard anybody mentioning it nor did I see it on the Technorati pages when I did a search. I think everybody is a winner using this system. The main think that I did not like is I have to give my credit card detail straight away during registration. I normally don't prefer to do this until I get comfortable using a site and service. I think credit card details can always be asked when somebody tries to add a listing to the site. May be because the service is very new, they don't seem to have a lot of user traffic flowing through the sites. So more users from all over the world is what they need. Of course, they need a blog. BLOG is what they need!!. You can read more about the company here.

Have fun, play pranks using MorphVOX

I love playing phone pranks on my friends and relatives. Love when they start guessing names and to scare them telling them that I am from the Tax department ;). But to come out with new voices all the time is not easy especially when you got voice like mine and I still have to learn to twist my tone in more then 50 ways. Download Sqad links me to a software where I can change my voice and talk to people. I use VoIP a lot, so I can use this software to change my voice and prank on people. MorphVOX Junior is a free software that enables you to change your voice and use it for online gaming to match your characters or one can use it on IM's and VoIP. I will for sure give it a try soon. He he, now I want a software where the software can change the accent as well ;).

Microsoft Opens Port25

Microsoft has opened it's door to communicate with Open Source Customers through Port25. Port25 will be used for communicating with people about open source, take requests and to show on what's going in Microsoft relating to Open Source tools such as Linux Distros. Hope to see more videos and interviews on this site from people within Microsoft with knowledge on Open Source tools. Why Port25 ? So why is it called Port 25? Some background on port numbers first. SMTP is short for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and is the protocol for sending email messages between servers or from a mail client to a mail server. On a server, the port for SMTP is 25. When you open a port on a server, such as to allow for SMTP traffic, it is commonly referred to as ‘listening’ on the port. Port 25, therefore, is a metaphor for how we are opening the communication lines to for a discussion around Open Source Software and Microsoft. Cute, huh? Sounds like a good start. I am subscribed. Microsoft is doing way good with communicating with all sorts of customer base I think.

Ajax based video editor

Ajax scene is getting very interesting. Now we can edit videos and mix them using just our browser and the Internet connection. As much I have the need to edit online videos and mix them up, the complexity of desktop based tools always keeps me away from it. Some tools are both complex and expensive. Eyespot is a online service where one can not only upload videos but can mix them, edit them and add audio clips for background music. One even has the capablity to trim down the videos.

One can upload movies using an Ajax based uploader where you will be able to see the status of your upload in real time. One can upload videos as avi, mov, divx, wmv, mp4, 3gp, 3g2 and dv format at this stage and can upload mp3 files as for the audio files. The upload can be 25 MB per file. Video message can be send straight from mobile as MMS using tejaspatel@eyespot.com account (it will be your username instead of my name). One can both share the videos privately and publicly with the community. You can post your videos on your website (blogs) and even share it on your own personal Eyespot blog. I have shared my first test video on my blog on Eyespot. You can even send the videos as MMS on mobile to people in US (only few operators are supported at this stage). I wish people start considering UK and Australia also as the part of such things and get us listed there ;). The service is in beta now. Overall, a cool service that I can recommend it to my friends.

Microsoft Calculator Plus

"Microsoft Calculator Plus has a vastly improved interface over the old version, and even sports a transparency feature that allows you to see through it when it is on the screen but not the active application. If you prefer, you can change the interface to Classic View, so it looks just like the native Windows XP Calculator while maintaining its advanced features. In addition to the Standard and Scientific views, Calculator Plus provides you with a very comprehensive Conversion view. In fact, there are 11 conversion categories, which include such items as Length, Volume, Weight, and even Currency. (To update the available currency values, pull down the Edit menu, and select the Import ECB Exchange Rates command.) While the layout and operation of the Currency conversion feature may behave erratically, it does work." VIA:- TechRepublic

Good luck to all at Riya.

Need to find something, SMS your query to Google

OK, here I start by saying another day and another talk about Google Service (this is a old service though)!! Google offers SMS Services where one can query Google with search terms and Google Servers will SMS you with the results. Not so good thing is it does only work in US and UK only at this stage.
Media_httpwwwsoftware_eapxh
You can search from definations, share prices, driving directions, phonebooks, zip codes, sport news etc.You can even check movie timings! I think when I call my local directory assitance I pay them $1.xx for the service. So this is all free for now on Google SMS and you only pay for the sending SMS cost that your service provider will charge you. I am sure this will evolve as the time passes by. Above all it is free for now. Check out FAQ page for more information on Google SMS. So if you are living in US or UK and are covered by one of these operators then just try punching in "46645" (GOOGL)on your mobile and send a message with a query. I will wait till this service gets to Australia. Have Fun!
