Software And Tools get a makeover

I am a happy man today. Software And Tools website got a makeover today. I implemented the templates today. A very good Developer Danny helped me develop this template. Now we have consitency in all the sub blogs as well as the main blog. Let me know if you got any suggestions for the template.

Windows Live gets couple of new features

Windows Live Mail(the new hotmail) is getting some new visible features. The new features I noticed today are the color selection feature, contact email drop down feature (where you start typing the email address and it starts showing you all the possible options with that name) and option of inbox layout i.e. Classic old Hotmail style or Windows Live Mail (this one is better for many reasons I think).

. The best feature I like is off drag and drop multiple email at the same time. Ofcourse there are so many features that I want so that I might even think of moving back to Hotmail email address as the primary one, but the I won't complain about that yet, as they might be in the pipeline. The one that I want badly is the archive feature and to select "all" mail button.

Business 2.0 made a list of Next Net 25 companies and mentioning to be aware of incumbents like Yahoo, Microsoft, Google,Skype and Amazon (fair enough!). OK, I really don't have to agree to the complete list of 25, but I was expecting to see Riya up there which is not the case. The companies mentioned are as below: Social Media Digg Last.fm Newswine Tagworld YouTube MashUp And Filters Bloglines Eurekster Simply Hired Technorati Trulia Wink New Phone Fonality SIPphone Iotum Vivox The Webtop JotSpot 30Boxes 37Signals Writely Zimbra Under The Hood Brightcove Jigsaw SimpleFeed Salesforce Six Apart

Register on Ether without an access code

So just in the previous post I wrote about Ether. Now it says it's not available to public as of yet, but I think there is one door open which can either be intentional or if not it will be closed pretty soon. So get in there before it's too late. To register on Ether, here is what you do. 1) Go to www.ether.com 2) Instead of clicking on "Sign Up", we will click on "Sign In". 3) Then we again click on "Sign Up" button on the right hand side as shown in the picture below.

4) Sign up as quick as you can 5) Try your pin no. as you get that in the email 6) Test the new service. It worked for me, I hope it works for others as well. Let me know how you go.

Ether lauches today

Media_httpwwwsoftware_bngfa
Michael Arrington at TechCrunch announches that Ether will launch today or tommorrow according to which part of the world you live in. Looks a interesting concept and can see a huge scope for this service. So What is Ether you ask? --> Earn money while what you say. You can earn money for what you have to offer. It can be anything from you talking over the phone and selling your services, selling digital content and market yourself on the web. Ether means a service where phone meets the web. How does Ether work? --> Ether would work on the website. To use Ether over the web, we have few options. First, we can get a Ether phone no. which Ether website says will be free of charge. We set the fixed rate for the services we offer and put their phone no. on our website or services. People use that phone no. to call and pay the fixed rate for a set amount of time. After paying Ether system dials out our Ether phone number and we are in business. so customers don't have to worry about international phone calls if they are using services where the service offering person is living in another country. The beauty of Ether is we can set our own working hours when we are able to take phone calls. More from Ether website. Earn money via email. You can sell any digital content, such as reports, photographs, podcasts, videos, etc. Simply send an Ether Mail with the contents you'd like to sell and set the price you're charging. People will only be able to view the contents when they pay your price. Sell content on the web. You can also sell digital content using an Ether Buy Now Button you can place on your website. Simply set up a Buy Now button with the contents you'd like to sell and set the price you're charging. People will only be able to view the contents when they pay your price. Is the Service available to public? --> No, as I understand it's in closed beta for now. How do one get paid? --> Ether website says that they can either do a direct deposit or send a cheque. How about services like Paypal? no mention of that on the Ether site. Do Ether do this all for free? --> No, they are planning on charging 15% of whatever the fees is charged to the end client which will cover administrative overheads including national and international phone calls. Does Ether have a blog? --> Ofcourse, it can be found at http://community.ether.com/blogs/ether_blog/default.aspx . How do I get an invite? --> You can sign up for Ether. I don't know, it worked for me when I did it using Firefox by visiting this URL and the same does not work in Internet Explorer. I will work on a quick hack in the coming post.
